How does it work?
CMY Cubes use primary colors Cyan, Magenta & Yellow (CMY) and are created to help view life & light through a different lens.
This fascinating cube appears to create an ever-changing spectrum of color. Each face of the translucent cube is coated in electromagnetically subtractive materials, which at first, appear as cyan, magenta, or yellow.
With a twist and turn of the geometry, these seemingly primary colours magically transform into an array of colours.
What is subtractive colour mixing?
Put simply, there are two main ways to mix colors: additive and subtractive. Additive mixing is like adding more light to make new colors. Subtractive mixing is like taking away light to create new shades.
How does the CMY cube work?
The CMY cube is a six-sided cube that only uses three colors: cyan, magenta, and yellow. When light shines on it, the cube can change colors for a visual delight. If you look at it from one side, you'll see one of those main colors. But if you tilt the cube and look from a different angle, you'll see new colors appear. This happens because the light bends inside the cube and changes how the colors look.
The cube shows different colors when turned due to how the light bends inside it and where the light is coming from. It's similar to how a prism makes a rainbow when light shines through it. Each color has its own "size" of light wave, so when the light bends in the cube, different colors show up based on those sizes. 👩🔬 Science = cool.
